Secondary School of the Year 2016

This award is given to a Secondary School that has excelled in school sport and physical activity over the last 12 months. Community links and the impact of sport has made them stand out.

Highly Commended: Carr Hill High School

Carr Hill High School students also have the chance become a “Sport Leaders” which involves volunteering at a host of sporting events organised for local primary schools. The Sports Leaders are responsible for helping to make events such as orienteering challenges and athletics tournaments possible. The school provides students of all abilities and sporting interests the chance to contribute to the wide sport provison at school.

Winner: Longridge High School

At Longridge High School they run an extensive extra-curicular programme including both a summer and winter programme that varies in activities. The school takes great pride in it’s sporting successes. Pupils are aware of the highs and lows that sport brings and has helped developand shape them into better individuals.  The school uses sport to great effect in order to create a culture of independence and competitveness. Competitions are run through inter-forms and inter-houses.
